Position:                     Children’s Pastor
Reports To:                Senior Pastor
Job Type:                    Full time position.  Normal workweek is 37.5 hours.

Job Summary:
The Children’s Pastor provides leadership, direction, vision and oversight for the entire KidsPlace ministry at Dunwoody Baptist Church (birth – 5th grade).
 
The Children’s Pastor also provides leadership, training, support and oversight to all Children’s Ministry staff including:
·         full-time Preschool Director
·         full time Weekday Preschool Director and support staff
·         part-time Childcare Director
·         part-time Special Needs Coordinator
·         part-time Administration Assistant
·         numerous student and adult volunteer workers.
 
The Children’s Pastor is responsible for the implementation and development of programming for the spiritual formation of children and equipping parents to fulfill their calling as the primary spiritual leaders of their children. Examples include: Sunday morning discipleship, special family/children events, Wednesday night Children’s Choir and Performing Arts Ministry, Vacation Bible School, summer camp, Lock-in’s, parent development and Baptism/Membership classes etc.

·         Desired Education & Experience:
BA or BS degree required, seminary degree from an accredited seminary strongly preferred
·         7+ years’ experience directing an active, growing children’s ministry
·         Experienced and proven leadership of volunteers, full and or part-time staff.
·         Proven experience in recruitment, training and coordination of volunteers
·         Previous experience / oversight with weekday preschool program preferred

Pastoral Duties:
·         Participate regularly in weekend worship programs.
·         Perform baptisms, weddings, funerals, and counseling as necessary.
·         Provide pastoral care for children and families within the church including hospital visits and follow-up.
·         Maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new children and families.
·         To encourage and motivate the children in a growing commitment and connection to the body of Christ and an expanding contribution to the mission of Christ. We are a diverse, multi-generational church that wants to impact our world!
 
 
Responsibilities & Job Duties:
Provide visionary leadership and organizational structure for the DBC Children’s Ministry.

·         Create environments, activities and programming for each age group that will facilitate learning and encourage spiritual growth.
·         Recruit and oversee all volunteers providing leadership, training, and appreciation.
·         Review, purchase and oversee the implementation of all curriculums.
·         Oversee childcare for all-church events as directed including, but not limited to, productions, Lifegroups, Family Ministry seminars, Christmas Eve.
·         Provide oversight, training and support to the weekday Preschool Ministry (DBPS)
·         Provide oversight, training and support to the weekday Childcare Facility
·         Provide care and oversight for other paid departmental staff and interns.
·         To annually develop and oversee the Children’s Ministry budget so it effectively and wisely utilizes church resources and maximizes ministry opportunity

Miscellaneous
·         Attend weekly Staff Meetings
·         Prepare & manage annual budget;
·         Keep the Senior Pastor thoroughly informed of staff accomplishments, concerns and future plans.
·         Maintain excellent relationships, open communication with all staff, and supports all Ministries of DBC.
