Job Summary:
The primary role of the Children’s Pastor/Director is to serve the church by developing, coordinating and administering an effective and comprehensive ministry to the children of FBLex (grades 1st through 5th) and their families by providing leadership and supervision to staff and volunteers involved in this ministry.
 Duties and Responsibilities:
1.    Provide leadership and oversight of the Children’s ministry (grades 1-5); and the After School program (grades 4K-8). This includes Sunday morning Fuel, Jump Start, Area 56 small groups & services, Wednesday night Discipline Zone, Special Children’s events (Fall Festival, etc) and FAMJAM (VBS). 
2.    Equip parents with opportunities and resources to fulfill God’s plan for the family (Deuteronomy 6:1-9), and create environments where children, students and parents become thirsty for God. (Matthew 5:6).
3.    A part-time Children’s Administrative Assistant and part-time After School Program Director will assist you with your duties.
4.    Choose and prepare curriculum for each Children Ministry program for each grade level that will facilitate learning and encourage spiritual growth.
5.    Recruit, train, pray for and involve Children’s ministry volunteers in all aspects of the ministry.
6.    Maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new children and families.
7.    Train and develop opportunities for children to become active in regular ministries, both under the Route 66 umbrella and church-wide.
8.    Plan, coordinate and oversee all Children’s / Family events which may include but are not limited to:
o   Easter egg hunt/movie night.
o   FamJam in the summer or some other plan.
o   Summer activities and Summer camp.
o   Family camping trips.
o   Trunk or treat or Country Fair in the fall.
o   Christmas family skate night.
o   Parent training times. (Family devotions, how to lead my child to Christ, etc.)
9.    Help FBLex accomplish our vision and mission:  “ “Loving and Living for God” by:
a)    Contacting and visiting families who visit FBLex.
b)    Develop an attractive outreach ministry.
c)    Send personalized birthday cards to the children.
d)    Visit & follow-up with assigned Discovery Class families (this class is the door to membership).
e)    Attend ballgames and other events where families gather.  Get out in the community.
f)     Provide follow-up material to parents and provide classes for children who place their faith in Christ (required before baptism.)
10.  Provide oversight to Sunday and Wednesday activities for grades 1-5 and seek ways to involve parents.
–       Route 66 includes:
o   Jumpstart (age graded classes)
o   Fuel Services (large group corporate worship)
o   Kidz Disciple Zone (grade and gender divided small groups)
o   Area 56
11. You are expected to be at the 9:00 AM FBLex staff devotions and will give devotion once a week.  This creates community among our staff and allows you to share something God has taught you.
12.  Lead or be involved in a growth group where prayer, Bible study, accountability and encouragement takes place.
13.  Assigned as back-up on hospital visits one day a week.
14.  Oversee the custodial employee that cleans the upstairs in the Worship Building (our goal is a clean, organized, updated facility).
15. Create and manage the Children’s Ministry budget as approved by the FBLex Finance Committee.
16. Provide oversight of the web pages dedicated to the Children’s Ministry.
17. Work with other pastors to grow and strengthen the Body of Christ.
 

Responsibilities:

FBLex believes whole-heartedly in the investment in today’s children and we seek to partner with parents to appropriately facilitate a Gospel-centered, meaningful, creative, consistent and dynamic Children’s Ministry (1st through 5th grades) that recognizes, promotes and champions the following understanding—the ministry to children is a family ministry that seeks to further the vision of FBLex, while equipping families and shepherding children in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  FBLex is seeking a Children’s Pastor/Director who will champion the mission of the ministry and provide visionary, energetic, creative and strategic leadership to its team to make a lasting spiritual impact in the lives of our children. This position will essentially be charged with the responsibility of growing and developing the Children’s Ministry of FBLex.  The correct fit for our team must have a strong passion to minister to children and their families and have the ability to do so in a fast-paced environment that thrives on reaching people with the gospel in a creative and relevant way.

Educational requirements:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited Christian Bible college with a theological, religious or ministerial degree in children’s ministry, early childhood development or in a related field is preferred.  

Experience requirements:

3+ years of proven experience and success in children’s ministry with leadership responsibilities in serving a church of a similar size and culture to FBLex is preferred for this role.

Takes initiative. Can do attitude. Eye for excellence.
